Words I hear a lot and especially in online marketing is all you have to do is “take massive action”, but what does this really mean? Is taking massive action really going to get you going forward with your business? I don’t think so.
Here is why:
There is an underlying assumption in these words that you are not doing enough or maybe that the only way you will succeed is by taking massive action, a burden laid upon you that if you don’t take massive action, you are unlikely to reach your goals. We are all human and humans have the tendency to fear things that might add a burden to their already busy lives. Isn’t these words doing exactly that? It also manifests an underlying fear of failure or even rejection.
When I first heard these words it terrified me, because I already had a very busy job and lifestyle. Massive action shouted: busy and a lot of time!
Before I started my online business I was seeking new business ideas that will free some time to create a better life for myself. I was told that all I have to do is take massive action! It created the idea of more work to my already full schedule and that there is no way I could fit any more into my life. I soon realized that it is not “taking massive action” that’s going to make me go forward, there must be another way to look at it.
This is how I look at it:
When using these words “taking massive action” would it not be better to use the words “gain momentum” instead? At first, you need to take it slow, learn what you need to learn and then you will have the knowledge and the skills to master what you want to achieve. As you master your business you will realize that you are gaining momentum, your actions become second nature and you start trusting your ability.
Gaining momentum will allow you to have the courage to step out of my comfort zone. So if you want to succeed with an online business, be prepared to embrace stepping out of your comfort zone! The first step is always the most challenging, but with commitment and understanding its possible. All you have to do is gain momentum in what you are doing and see how your business will grow!
